It all started with just one vine...

Located on the banks of Lake Creek, Rock Estates Vineyard got its start in 2013 with just 1 grape vine. Fascinated by the color and fruit that the one vine produced, the seed of inspiration was planted. Now, Rock Estates Vineyard has over 100 hearty vines producing Central Texas Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Lenoir, and Merlot grapes.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are ideal for growth in Texas. Because this grape blooms later in the season, it is able to avoid frost damage associated with blooming early in the year. Used exclusively for producing high to medium-quality dry table wines, Cabernet Sauvignon grapes can be blended with other wines to increase the structure.

Chardonnay

Like Merlot grapes, Chardonnay grapes are ideally grown in an area where early-season frost damage is not likely. Harvested earlier in the season (mid to late-August), quality Chardonnay grapes are in high demand as it is an important component for high-quality white and sparkling table wines.

Lenoir

Once the "go to" grape, the Lenoir grape found itself falling behind in popularity to that of the Merlot grapes, until it was found that the Lenoir grapes were resistant to Pierce's Disease and were of no interest to various pests, such as Phylloxera. Also known as the Black Spanish grape, Lenoir is once again gaining ground as a favorite among grape growers in the Texas Hill Country.

Merlot

The Merlot grape requires a little more attention than our other grapes. Serving as an important component in the creation of some of the best blended wines, the Merlot grape needs to grow in an environment that does not have excessive cold or wet conditions. What better grape to grow in Round Rock, Texas.
